It is a time of mourning for the residents of 5824. Our much beloved Chinese fast food place located just 5 minutes away at the San Pablo Towne Center has closed down. Fook's Fast Food is no more. We used to go there to get one kind of fried rice, one kind of chow mein, one egg roll, and one item from the steam table (formerly known as Combo A) for only $3.10.
A few weeks ago, new ownership took over. They were set to re-open last week, but there was a slight delay. Now there is a new name (Lee's Garden Fast Food), but also new prices. The equivelent of what used to be Combo A now cost a whopping $3.99 and that's without the egg roll ($0.69 extra, I think). Even worse, we took a quick peek of the menu items (since they now close at 8:30pm instead of 10:00pm, we were unable to get food there) and I did not see my favorite Fook's item, the Singapore style curry rice noodles!!
I used to stop by Fook's when I wanted a quick meal that did not involve a drive-thru. I guess this means more Crunchy Taco Supremes in my future.
