thanks for everyone coming over for the barbecue. yesterday was pretty fun. decent food, good friends, wild poker... can you ask for anything more? (...and twins!) we still have a lot of meat left over. 5824 will continue to have burgers and chicken for the next couple of days. poker was pretty fun, even though i personally lost my $5 the quickest. someone else will have to update you on how it turned out, because by the time i went to bed, 5 players were still going on. i hope to have more of these gatherings over the summer.

just want to recount a conversation that took place yesterday:
bob: so, dave, what do you do?
dave: nothing. i'm a bum.
bob: are you suave dave han?

watched the season finale of '24' on tape. i had to have jason update me on most of the storyline, so i wasn't into it as much as fans probably were. i think bauer and palmer should spin-off into their own series... 'jack and the prez'. it'd be a remake of sorts of 'spencer for hire'. they'd be a private investigation team that goes around bustin' up the underworld of LA. palmer could shave his head and wear sunglasses and a trenchcoat. at any rate, i can't believe the same '24' characters could come back for another season. jack buaer needs a very long vacation.

there are definitely two philosophies at our poker tables. cal adopts the philosophy of always getting to the river. my philosophy is to win the pot when you have the best hand (stop people from increasing their chances at the river). we've seen both be successful, so the many hands of research we've done have not given us any firm conclusions. things that we have learned:

pockets are overrated
cal will, at any time, play any hand
people will sweat over a $2 bet
the seat directly left of the recliner is bad luck(we orginally thought it was the seat directly left of jason, but it turns out that it's the recliner, not jason)

in other news, we're thinking of having a bbq on sunday (day before memorial day). would people be interested, or are there other bbqs out there that we haven't been invited to? i can offer beer-can chicken.

poker is much more exciting to watch than nba playoffs. sorry bob.

Don't worry, we're still here.

The lack of post is partly due to an ongoing poker experiment taking place at 5824.

The book with the results should be out soon.
