There has been a lot in the news about upgrading Casino San Pablo and making one of the largest casinos in the world. There are also at least two other proposed casino projects in the Richmond area.

I have some mixed feelings about this. I would love for Vegas or Reno to become my neighbors. The thought of playing table games at 3am on a Wednesday is awesome. I could even gamble away my car and be able to walk home. If they somehow legalized sportsbetting in California, I would live in the sportsbook.

However, there are a lot of low or no income families in the area. Having a huge casino so close would not be a good idea. The plan says it would create a bunch of jobs for the area and lots of revenue for the government, but I'm not sure if the potential positives will outweigh the potential negatives a mega-casino will bring.

After thinking over the pros and cons, I decided I don't like the plan for one simple reason: more competition for Casino 5824. (Casino 5824 has now officially expanded to 2 locations.)
